Middle of The Pack Rat

Finished smack-freakin'-dab in the middle of the pack in a blogger tourney again!

I'm taking it that this means that I'm an extremely average poker player.

I was crusing along fairly well. I got shortstacked and doubled up mid-way through the first round with an all-in with AQ offsuit (natch) vs. pocket 9's. Caught an A on the flop and didn't look back.

Bluffed a couple small pots. Got dealt cowboys twice with only limpers who folded to my post-flop min-bet, and aces once in the BB when everyone folded to me. Lots of good they were...

Got knocked out by "gunsandpoker" (the eventual winner of the tourney) when my AQc ran into his AKo and bumped me out. There were two clubs on the flop, so I prayed to the baby Jebus for one. more. club. He must have thought there was a 'better yes', because I was bounced from the tourney in 23rd place.

I got to give mad shout outs to Rage and TripJaxx, though, so that was cool.

Thanks to Poker Savvy for setting it up. Hopefully, there'll be more in the future!

I also had a weird dream last night that I was hanging out in the apartment I lived at in college with Dr. Pauly and Joe Speaker. We were all drinking Budweiser (a subconcious nod to Poker Champ, perschmaps?) and talking. The Dr. and Joe were trying to convince me to take Boy Genius' spot at the World Series of Poker. BG had won a ticket to the main event, and apparently couldn't make it for some unkown reason, and I was chosen to replace him. I begged off, saying that I was an extremely average poker player and wouldn't make it past the first day. They persisted, and suddenly the dream changed to me playing the first hand of the WSOP (Mike Matsow was at my table) and being dealt...you guessed it: AQc. That's when I woke up.

I think I peed the bed a little bit.

Oh, and my dream-instinct was to push. Man, I still have a lot work to do on my game if even subconciously I'm pushing with AQ.

Tonight: Twins vs. A's. Behind home plate. 15 rows up, yo.

WTF?, indeed.

Pauly was dressed all in black and carried himself like Pacino in The Devil's Advocate.

It was insane. Probably shouldn't drink so much PBR before bedtime...

It would be totally excellent to be in your dream if you were a college girl with questionable morals.

As it is...

I'll be looking for you on the tube tonight--do something to draw attention to yourself, like throwing bags of urine at people--as Esteban Loaiza pretends he's a major league pitcher and throttles the Twinkies.

I'll be throwing bags of bloody pee at Esteban Loaiza. I'll also be the guy in the face paint, powder-blue throwback Twins jersey, hot pink thong and cowboy boots being escorted from the stands by T.C. Bear.

You know what really sucks, though? It's 72 degrees in Minneapolis right now, and I'm going to go watch baseball in a FUCKING DOME.

Joe, remember 2002 when we beat you in the ALDS? That was awesome.

You must remember that bloggers are better than the average poker player, so you're decidedly above-average when compared to the general population of players.

Thanks for that, Slick. My ego really needed it.
